Otometrics develops, manufactures and markets computer-based audiological, otoneurologic and vestibular instrumentation in more than 70 countries under the MADSEN, AURICAL, HORTMANN and ICS brand names. Otometrics' origins go back 50 years, when Poul Madsen, a pioneer and innovator in the field of audiological diagnosis, founded Madsen Electronics. In 1990 Madsen was acquired by hearing instrument manufacturer GN Danavox, and Madsen became the foundation of a strong audiological instrumentation business within the GN Group. This development was furthered by the acquisitions of Danplex in Denmark (1999), Hortmann in Germany (2000), ICS Medical in the USA (2000) and AuditData in Denmark (2001). As a result of both unprecedented growth and these acquisitions, GN Otometrics was established with effect from January 1, 2001. The name "Otometrics" was chosen because it says precisely what GN Otometrics company does. "Oto" refers to the ear and "metrics" refers to measurement. But the name was just a starting point. Over the decades Otometrics has grown into the undisputed world leader in audiological measurement equipment, delivering systems that set new standards in technology and business management for today's clinical settings.
